Menstrual hygiene management (MHM) is a critical issue affecting girls’ education and well-being in Kenya. Despite the natural occurrence of menstruation, many young girls face challenges due to a lack of resources, education, and support. At Save A Youth Africa (SAYA), we are dedicated to addressing these challenges through our comprehensive MHM programs.

The Challenge
Many girls in Kenya, particularly those in rural areas, struggle to access sanitary products, leading to missed school days and decreased self-esteem. According to UNFPA, approximately 7.3 million girls under the age of 18 give birth each year, often due to the stigma surrounding menstruation and inadequate knowledge about reproductive health.

SAYA’s Response
Our Menstrual Hygiene Management program aims to ensure that all girls have access to necessary products and education. Through initiatives like the SAYA-Men 4 Girls Tournament, we distribute sanitary pads and educate communities on the importance of MHM. By integrating health education into community events, we can break the stigma surrounding menstruation and empower girls to manage their periods confidently.

Community Involvement
Engaging local communities is vital for the success of our MHM program. We collaborate with schools, parents, and community leaders to promote awareness and understanding of menstrual hygiene. By fostering a supportive environment, we enable girls to feel safe and confident during their menstrual cycles.

Impact and Success
Our efforts have already made a significant impact. Over 200 girls received sanitary products during our events, allowing them to attend school without interruption. Testimonials from participants highlight how access to menstrual products has boosted their confidence and improved their academic performance.

Call to Action
Support our Menstrual Hygiene Management program and help us empower girls across Kenya. Your donations can provide essential hygiene products and educational resources, ensuring that no girl is left behind. Together, we can create a future where every girl has the tools to manage her health with dignity.
